Bourton-on-the-Hill is a picturesque Cotswold village located near the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh.
The original parish name of Burgh-tun means 'fortified farmstead' and appeared in the Domesday book in 1086. The village became known as Bourton-on-the-Hill after having various names throughout the centuries.
In the village there were two manors owned by Tewkesbury Abbey and Westminster Abbey. |
